Ventilation of buildings is very important for a healthy environment, good living, working and efficient activity for users — but also for good, long-lasting preservation of the building itself (no moisture).
By combining an improved Canadian well, heat recovery, and a heat pump, we can supply energy and air-supply systems very efficiently, with low energy consumption and costs for the building and its users.
A Canadian well heats/cools air supplied from the exterior through a ground passage in specific pipes: air at −15 °C is naturally heated by the ground to 3–5 °C in winter, and in summer is cooled from 36 °C to 26–27 °C, with an electricity consumption of only 30–40 W per hour.
A heat exchanger transfers heat/cool from the building's internal air to the already-conditioned external air (conditioned by the Canadian well) to 15–17 °C in winter and 25–26 °C in summer.
The heat pump then supplies the remaining difference to bring the air conditioned by the Canadian well and heat exchanger to the temperature level desired by users.
This way, the ground does most of the heating/cooling effort for the building, and the electric energy consumed is drastically reduced. If the electricity comes from a renewable source, the building becomes a "Zero Energy Building".
